This is ideal for lots of people. The situations in which this may not be great include: bedrooms where you need to be able to blackout the windows while sleeping, a room that you would like to appear consistent throughout the day, lit just with artificial sources of light.

Also keep in mind that if you do choose a sheer fabric and need it to allow in less light this is possible. You can buy something called a 'darkening liner'. This does precisely what it says. It lines the fabric adding a darkening layer which allows less light to get through. This is quite helpful if you really wish to have a sheer fabric but need it in the bedroom!

2. The actual shade. This might sound obvious, however it's funny how many people install shades and then never use them, they constantly revert back to the artificial light in the space. Like I said, if this is planned, then there is no issue with doing it this way, but you should at least attempt to open the shades now and then, you may surprise yourself at the brightness of the room. Alternatively you may think that it is an awesome look for a day party or something similar.
